Q: What is the deal with the website? Why is it designed / laid-out / set up the way it is?

A: A content management system (CMS) is used for the site. A CMS allows members to create the content, and everything is organized and updated automagically. Thus no webmaster is required for adding content or updating the site. If the site gets stale, it is the Members' fault. Wink

Q: Why do I have to register for the site?

A: You don't. Anyone can browse the site. However, when you register you get certain benefits:

  • Registered users can post News, HAMOM, Tech, Trailrides, etc.

  • Registered users can upload photos into the integrated gallery.

  • Registered users can add weblinks to the site.

  • Registered users have access to some content and features which are only available when logged in, such as:

    • Adding calendar entries;

    • Some articles are restricted to Registered Members, and are completely invisible to passers-by;

    • The Commenting system is active for Registered Members.

Q: How do I register? Will my information be secured?

A: Click the Register or Login link on any page and fill out the required fields.

Your information will not be shared with anyone for anyone reason, unless a bona fide law enforcement agency subpoenas us. Be aware that there are sophisticated email harvesters and bots that are tuned to collect info from websites, so they may be successful accessing the information you put in the Registration form.

ONSC does not track your habits either. Yes, we put a cookie on your PC and there is some Google Analytics code so we can gather basic data on how people use our site, but this data does not identify you.
