Olde North State Cruisers has become part of the National Forest Service's "Adopt-A-Trail" system and has adopted the Wolf's Den Trail at Uwharrie National Forest.
The members of Olde North State Cruisers will be meeting at the trail head/parking lot of Wolf's Den Trail for a 9:30 AM meeting with the National Forest Service on Saturday, September 12th. As part of the program, we will be working with the National Forest Service on Trail Ditch Repair and Erosion Control.
We ask that our members who frequent Uwharrie National Forest to make a quick run of the trail and to keep an eye out and do any necessary trash pickup. With the current turmoil of OHV access and trail closures, we ask anyone interested to be a part of maintaining and helping to insure we have at least a few OHV parks in the area to attend. |

Eric and Ramon need front axle servicing on their 80's, so ONSC will be knocking out 2 of them in one day. We'll be at Ramon's place in the Morrisville/Cary area for birfields, BBQ, and beer on Saturday, August 22.
As always, follow the thread on 'Mud for details, and c'mon out! |

Where: Uwharrie National Forest When : May 16-17
Details: We've reserved Badin Lake Group Campsite B so no worries on spaces. Day pass is $5.00, season pass is $30, we recommend everyone get a season pass and support ORV access, even if you don't plan on going to Uwharrie much this year. Meet up times will be posted at a later date. Expect a Saturday morning meetup at the Outpost likely around 9:30AM. We'll split into 2 groups, experienced and non-experienced, and this will be the first run where we test the safety inspection process. |

Recreation Groups Express Disappointment At Forest Service Implementing Tellico Emergency Closure
The Southern Four Wheel Drive Association (SFWDA), the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC) and United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA) expressed disappointment today in the Forest Service decision to implement the emergency closure of the Upper Tellico OHV trails on April 1, 2009 pending review of the many substantive comments made by OHV enthusiasts.
Gary Parsons, President of SFWDA, said, "We are very disappointed in the Forest Service decision to close the Upper Tellico OHV trails. In formal comments made to the Forest Service, the OHV community and other interested parties clearly demonstrated that such a closure has no scientific basis. Substantive comments provided to the Forest Service included findings of an independent study completed by Caliber Engineering and the recommendations from a report completed by the Forest Service's own Trails Unlimited Team. This is a bad decision and we are left with no other alternative but to pursue legal options." |
